Khan Academy Gujarati content has been made available offline for learners who may have limited or no access to the internet. The contents include videos on Mathematics and Science topics mapped as per the NCERT curriculum for grades 1 to 10. It also includes exercises related to each of the topics to help assess and reinforce the learnings. This is the need of the hour as the Gujarat Education Dept. switches to the NCERT curriculum.
Multiple learning models
With its offline availability on the Kolibri platform it opens up a number of possibilities. The contents may be used by teachers “as is” in a smart class setup to explain the concepts. Or they may selectively use the videos in their custom lesson plans.
In a setup where Android tablets are accessible to students, as is the case in several public schools across Gujarat, access to such content makes self-paced learning a reality.
There are multiple ways how such content can be used on the Kolibri platform for effective pedagogical interventions. For the details, do checkout the rich Kolibri documentation both from a teacher’s and a student’s perspective.
The role of MSS
The My sCool Server is an integrated platform for accessing such content offline and many other educational utilities by easing the deployment and maintenance of ICT infrastructure in a school.
The MSS being is being deployed in an increasing number of public schools as part of our social impact projects. Thus having access to such quality content in their native language will definitely impact students’ learning outcomes positively.
MSS users may import the Khan Academy Gujarati content into their Kolibri installations as it is a public channel or may also do so by using the token – difit-norak. Do feel free to reach out to the MSS support team for any assistance.
Credits
All this has been made possible thanks to the Khan Academy team who have curated such useful content and made it available free for all learners. We are also grateful to the Learning Equality team for importing the contents into a Kolibri channel, thus making it possible to access it offline.
As content updates are released by Khan Academy, we at Recherche Tech, shall continue working with the Learning Equality team to make the same available for the offline learning environments.
